A cast copper alloy casket key, of probable Medieval date between 1066-1500. It has a hollow stem, which is flattened on both sides to make it oval in section. The bow is circular with a large worn circular perforation. There is no colar between the bow and the stem. The bit is a simple rectangle with a cleft in the leading edge and opposite it. The key has a greenish hue. The key measures 39.3mm in length, 13mm in width, 4.6mm thick and weighs 6.58 grams and is in good condition. Please compare to PAS record ID: LVPL-36CD44.
