Silver thimble fragment, missing domed top, made from silver sheet now pressed out. Plain border roughly engraved Thinke: on with a gap, then a D possibly for the word Death. The body stamped with waffle-shaped indentations leaving a design in reserve of scrolls supporting hearts and flowers.
Late 17th Century, of a type commonly reported through the Treasure Act. Compare TAR 2005-6 no. 833. The inscription is found on other examples.
As such, due to its age and precious metal content, this object qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
