A fragment from a sword blade of Late Bronze Age date. It is rectangular in form, terminating at both ends in old breaks. The sword is pointed-oval shaped in section with a slightly raised mid rib and flattened blade. Evidence of hammer marks on one of the faces and a slightly curved profile indicate that it was deliberately hammer broken in antiquity. All surfaces have the remains of a worn dark green patina that is slightly pitted in places. It measures 34.95mm in length, 32.09mm in width, 7.89mm in thickness and 40.94g in weight. This is a fragment from a sword of Late Bronze Age date, c.1,150-800 BC.
