Cast copper alloy strap end length 23mm, width 10mm, thickness 1.5mm weight 1.39g. Rectangular shape with slightly convex edges, this has been truncated halfway down its length. The forward edge of the strap end has an animal facemask, there are three conjoining triangles above the eyebrows that are filled with niello. The main decoration consist a rectangular panel containing complex interlace pattern that is the rear half of an animals body. All of the recesses are filled with niello. This is a Thomas class A type 1 which dates it to the late 8th early 10th century,
