An incomplete cast copper alloy buckle of post-medieval date. The object is roughly half of a double looped oval buckle with an escallop like moulding on the outer edge of the remaining loop. The strap bar is narrowed with pointed knops projecting from either end. The reverse of the buckle is undecorated and it is slightly curved.
The metal is a mid reddish-green colour and is worn. The buckle is 38mm long, 34.9mm wide, 2.1mm thick and weighs 5.9g.
Similar examples can be seen in Whitehead, p.62 and are dated to circa 1550 - 1650.
