A bent and incomplete copper-alloy mount of Medieval date.
The mount is parallel-sided along most of its length. The upper surface comprises three rectangular mouldings, separated from each other by short bars of triangular section. The surfaces of the rectangular mouldings are decorated with a pattern of crosshatched grooves. At the intact end is a rounded terminal with central rivet hole and, projecting from the end, a pointed lobe. The corroded surfaces retain much of the mount's original gilding. The piece measures 39.6mm long, 9.2mm wide, 3.3mm thick and weighs 6g.
The form of this piece can be compared to horse harness pendant suspension mounts of the 13th and 14th centuries (see, for example, PAS record BH-AC4764).
