SCRAPER (TOOL)

Unique ID: PUBLIC-715B17

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

Flint scraper, ovoid in plan and lozenge shaped in profile. The dorsal side has a retouched margin from the lower left edge round to the upper right edge. The distal tip appears worked into a deliberate point. The lower left margin is snapped and abraded. The proximal end is damaged and from perhaps an impact fracture. On the ventral side there are two areas of retouch on the upper left and right margins in between which there is a visible bulb of percussion. It is dark grey with light grey flecks in colour. The non-beach cortex is an opaque beige in tone.

Butler (2005) illustrates a similar example on page 127, Fig. 51, No. 6 which is dated to the Neolithic period.
