A cast lead cloth seal of Post-Medieval date (around 1500-1900). The seal consists of two lead discs joined by a lead strip. The strip is bent, presumably through use-the seal would have been wrapped around a bag and the circular ends stamped to seal the contents. This process has left an impressed design on one disc, featuring a sheild and anchor motif.
There have been some losses from the seal, notably from the base of the decorated disc and from the lead strip. The metal has a stable, uniform patina of pale grey overlain by soil in places.
