A complete cast copper-alloy Early-Medieval/Anglo-Scandinavian stirrup mount of Williams' Class A Type 12. It is diamond shaped in form with flat back face and slightly rounded front face that has openwork decoration. At the apex of the mount is an integrally cast suspension loop that is flat, circular in form and with a central circular aperture. The mount has a central diagonal cross dividing it into four evenly spaced diamond shaped apertures. There are a total of seven projecting semi-circular bosses, one at the centre of the cross, two at the base of the suspension loop, one at each outer corner of the mount and two towards the base of the mount. At the base of the mount is an integrally cast rectangular flange set at an angle of 45 degrees that has a single central rivet hole containing the remains of a corroded iron rivet. The entire object measures 53.29mm in length, 28.71mm in width, 5.68mm in thickness, and weighs 16.27g.

This is an Anglo-Scandinavian stirrup mount of Early-Medieval date. The diamond shaped plate with openwork decoration indicates it belongs in Williams' Class A Type 12 mounts, with a total of 32 similar parallels noted by him (Williams, 1997: pp. 71-74). This indicates a date range in the 11th century AD for the current object.
