A copper alloy stirrup mount in an Anglo-Scandinavian style, Williams Class A, type 5. It has a subtriangular shape with a drilled hole in the base and at the apex. Traces of niello remain on the surface, though the design is difficult to interpret due to the degree of corrosion, which extends accross the surface of the object.
Traces of iron oxide are visible on the underside of the mount on the basal rib.
This stirrup mount is probably a Class A Type 5, though David Williams describes a similar mount from Bedfordshire as unclassified but similar to a Type 5 and Type 1 (Late Saxon Stirrup-Strap Mounts, p. 80, 104-5).
