Copper alloy bracelet fragment, possibly of Roman

The bracelet is fragmentary, represented by less than half (with a surviving length of 63.3mm and a weight of 14.5g) and is broken at both ends. The bracelet is of cable type, constructed with three intertwined copper alloy wires. The wires are wound tightly without any space and are of sub-rectangular section (3.9mm wide and 3.1mm thick), producing a bracelet is of rounded D-shaped section (7.8mm wide x 5.9mm thick at one end and 6.7mm wide and 5.1mm thick at the other). The surface has a dark-brown patina and has been recently treated.

A three-strand cable bracelet excavated at Colchester was recovered from a 4th to mid 5th century context (Crummy, 1981, p 38, no. 1628) .
