An incomplete cast copper alloy mount dating to the 11th century. The mount is sub-rectangular in plan and decorated in Urnes style. The body is divided into areas by a raised cross, and each area contains at least three circular holes. In the centre of one short end is a moulded zoomorphic mask looking back along the mount. The sides of the mount are irregular, worn and difficult to see whether they are complete or not. There is a single copper alloy rivet through the centre of the mount. The plate is moulded on the upper face and flat on the reverse. Compare LIN-1A8B75 which cites SOMDOR-B7E4C7, and NMS-E33F80. The latter is decorated with an sinuous double-headed dragon-like beast entwined with a snake, perhaps also the subject of the former example and maybe this one too, the raised cross being the bodies of the creatures.
