A cast lead alloy bi-faced token or more likely gaming counter of relatively modern date (1700-1950). The counter / token has a horse and rider on one face. The horse is wearing a bridle and bit, as well as saddle and stirrups. The rider holding a lance over his shoulder and wearing a flowing cloak and possibly a turban or other draped cloth headwear. In style the rider echoes images of Don Quixote. The reverse shows a raised circle which is enclosed by a segmented circle. Within the inner circle are a series of lentoid shaped depressions. This may suggest that this face is a stylised castle with rooms / cells within the walls. The size and condition suggest a modern date, possibly gothic revival or later stylised medieval form. It has also been suggested that this maybe the front face of a button of similar date
The counter measures 25.8mm diameter, is 3.3mm thick and weighs 15.52 grams
