A copper-alloy pin, probably dating from the middle part of the Early-Medieval period (c. 720-c. 850).
The head is polyhedral, taking the form of a cuboid with truncated corners. Each of the four vertical faces is decorated with a single punched ring-and-dot mark. A moulded collar separates the head from the shaft, the latter of which is of circular section, has a maximum diameter of 1.4mm and tapers to a sharp point. Approximately halfway down the shaft there is a band comprising five lightly incised rings. The pin has been bent into a 'U-shape', the regularity of which suggests it may be a deliberate, contemporary adaptation. The artefact measures 39.5mm long; the head is 6.7mm wide by 8.9mm high. The weight is 3.2g.
