An incomplete medieval buckle plate, rectangular, corroded, broken across the loops where folded widthways with pin-slot and recessed for frame. The back part is missing, and it is pierced at the attachment end by two rivet-holes. It measures >31 x 19mm. The plate is decorated with a bird or bird-like monster (head obscured by corrosion) to sinister, on a decayed greenish enamelled field, some enamel missing. See Dress Accessories 113-4, fig. 73, no. 530. It dates from the 13th-century.
