A cast copper alloy Roman enamelled disc brooch, dating to the second century AD. The flat brooch has a blue and possibly green (now missing) emamelled background, with a central six-pointed star. The star has six points and red enamel within the field and a central dot. The star points reach to the outer edge of the brooch; around the outer circumference of the brooch is 12 small lugs. On the reverse of the brooch is the remains of the springed pin and the catchplate. This style of brooch is often referred to as the 'sunburst' design. For direct comparisons, see Hattatt (2007) no. 1041-1043.
