A small, gilded cast copper-alloy annular brooch of medieval date (c. 13th century AD). It is formed of a flat ring so has a rectangular (with rounded corners) cross-section. Around a pin constriction a ?cast, pointed pin survives in situ. The loop is connected at the terminal; the two ends are no longer pressed together. There is a small transverse ridge at the junction of loop and shaft. The pin has been bent upwards slightly at its tip. Opposite the constriction is a very low pin rest (groove). At the other cardinal points are incised crosses. Between the cardinals points is incision decoration in the form of an elongated triangle filled with a cross. Traces of gilt survive within the incisions and on the pin. The brooch has corroded to the dark red-brown colour characteristic of gilded artefacts.
