Complete but worn cast copper-alloy shield-shaped harness pendant of Medieval date. The pendant has an intact pierced suspension loop projecting from the upper edge. There are slight traces of gilding on the front of the mount.
The detail of the coat of arms is not clear but may show six lions rampant with three to either side of a diagonal dividing line. This may possibly be the arms of Humphrey de Bohun, Earl of Hereford (Azure a bend argent cotised between six lions rampant or a label gules). Dependent on the original enamel colouring, which has now been lost, it may also have represented the arms of Henry de Bohun or another member of the same family.
Harness pendants of this type are dated to the thirteenth century, AD. c.1200-1300.
