Specialist report:
Date: 17th Century; maker's mark recorded 1640-50
Description: Post-Medieval gold posy ring, plain exterior, D-shaped section. Engraved inside in lower case: My heart is yours til death. Maker's mark (crowned D) is stamped between the words 'is' and 'yours'.
Discussion: For the maker's mark see Jackson, 1989 (Ed, Pickford) page 274, according to Jackson this is the mark of William Dobson Jr. The inscription does not appear in Evans and there are no examples of this inscription within the British Museum collections.
