A copper-alloy bar mount of Medieval date.
The mount is rectangular in plan and of 'D-shaped' section. At either end is an in situ copper-alloy rivet. The object measures 17.5mm long, 3.9mm wide, 1.5mm thick (not including the rivets) and weighs 0.7g.
Similar bar mounts were found in excavations in London (cf Egan and Pritchard 1991: 212), the majority in contexts dating from the late 13th to mid 14th centuries.
