Roman copper alloy coin. A cast contemporary copy of an as of Hadrian (AD 117-38), prototype dating to AD 119 (Reece Period 6). Reverse probably: BRITANNIA (in exergue), PONT MAX TR POT COS III S C, Britannia seated left. Prototype Mint of Rome. RIC II, p. 412, cf. no. 577. A number of cast coins of this type were found in the Sacred Spring at Bath - Walker 1988, p. 292 and XXXII, cf. nos. 14-21. Walker suggests a local 'Casting Mint'.
