Proximal end of a knapped flint secondary blade with retouch down one side, probably a scraper. Struck off a prepared platform with bulb of percussion and percussion waves visible on ventral face, break at distal end. Cortex runs up one side and covers c.50% of the dorsal face and 25% of the ventral. The opposite side (the left edge on the dorsal face) have retouch along the entire remaining length; semi-abrupt, long scalar retouch becoming shallower at the proximal end.Made on mid-grey-brown weathered flint. 41.4mm long, 15.7mm wide, 5.8mm thick and 3.29 grams in weight.

Single finds of flint are difficult to date with any precission. This item was found in conjunction with another blade (SOM-48F4B3) suggesting a possibly Early - Mid Neolithic date for both.

Brought into the Museum of North Somerset in 1956.
