A struck/hammered copper alloy jetton of Charles VI (1380-1422) or Charles VII (1422-1461), struck as one of the stock issues in Tournai between c.1415 and 1497 AD.

The jetton consists of a Shield of France jetton, issued throughout the 15th Century.

The obverse consists of a Shield of France bearing 3 complete Lys or Lis, with annulets to the top and side. The obverse inscription reads [ ]MARIA GRACIA P [ ]. The reverse depicts a triple stranded cross fleuretty in a four arched tressure. The reverse inscription reads [ ]AMV.

The jetton is a dark green colour and is in good condition, suffering from little abrasion.

It has a diameter of 26.54mm and is 1.00mm thick. It weighs 2.3 grams.

This jetton is similar to that published as #665 (Mitchiner, 1988, p224), although the reverse legend is slightly different (+AMV as opposed to +AVE) and is slightly heavier. However it bears the same obverse legend and design, and reverse design.
