Medieval copper alloy belt mount probably of late medieval date
The mount is complete and is of lozenge form (with a length of 21.7mm, a width of 16.1mm an overall depth of 8.0mm and a weight of 3.4g). The mount is decorated with a cross in cast relief; between the arms of the cross are triangles, incorporating trefoils or pellets along the sides running parallel with the edges. At the centre is a circular pellet. The rear of the mount is hollowed. The mount was attached by two integral pins positioned near the top and bottom. Traces of gilding survives in recessed areas and elsewhere the surface has a dark green patina.
