Cast copper alloy Roman penannular brooch, a Fowler Type A3, dating to c.100- 350 AD.

The brooch itself is complete, although the pin is broken. The brooch has been squashed out of shape, probably whilst in the ground. It has golbular terminals, each with a single moulded collar. One of the terminals appears to have an extra bit of metal, it could be a mis-cast which was not cleaned up. The pin was formed by a strip of wire folded over the brooch, the loop remains but it has broken before it extends to the pin.
