A complete cast copper alloy hooked strap fitting of Late Medieval to Early Post Medieval dating (1400 to 1600 AD).

The strap fitting consists of a rectangular D sectioned attachment, with a square sectioned hook at the base. The hook has a blunt point, and is U shaped in profile. The attachment end has been decorated by a couple of raised collars, one at the top and one at the bottom, on either side of the holes for rivets. An iron rivet is still present in the lower hole, whereas the upper hole is empty. The internal diameter of the upper hole is 2.96mm.

The strap fitting is a mid to dark green colour, with an uneven surface patina. Abrasion, caused by movement whilst within the ploughsoil, has resulted in a loss of surface detail.

The strap fitting measures 61.90mm in length, 8.31mm wide and16.80mm thick. It weighs 8.7 grams.
