A cast copper-alloy signet finger ring of Medieval to Post-Medieval date. The hoop is D-shaped in section and on one side has a disc-shaped bezel measuring 13.49mm in diameter and 2.66mm in thickness. This is decorated with an engraved Lombardic letter R with single pellets above below and to the right, a leaf shaped motif to the left, all within an inner circle. The entire ring has a dark green patina and measures 27.13mm in maximum length, 25.37mm in width at hoop, 1.73mm in thickness at hoop, and weighs 6.22g.
Several similar signet rings are noted on the PAS database (e.g. BH-789D97) as well as in examples published from Salisbury (Salisbury Museum Catalogue Part 1: Cherry, 1991: nos. 20-22). These suggest a 15th-16th century AD date for the current example.
