A cast copper alloy thimble of probable late Medieval to Post-Medieval date. It has straight sides and a rounded/pointed top and a slightly thickened rim with single circumferential groove. On the underside of the rim there is at least one triangular notch resultant from manufacture. The striaght sides are covered with extensive and unevenly arranged (possibly hand-made?) circular pits that seem to spiral from the base to the shoulder of the thimble and finally to the top. The thimble measures 20.03mm in height, approximately 19.93mm in diameter in current state, weighs 8.05g and probably dates to the 15th or 16th centuries AD (see Holmes, 1991: p. 1, fig. 2b).
