HARNESS FITTING

Unique ID: DUR-22C762

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

Strap fitting/ Mount Cast copper alloy harness fitting, taking the form of a ring with small rectangular strap bar on the reverse. The strap bar is oval in cross-section, but the ring itself has a D-shaped section, curved on the front and flat on the reverse. At least one circular hole has been drilled into the front of the ring, probably intended to hold enamel, as seen on many other fittings from this site. Parallels: The form of this object is most similar to M.14 from the related 1843 hoard, although that example had lipped decoration, whereas this find is plain. Measurements: Thickness: 10.3mm; diameter: 26.1mm; weight: 9.1g

Notes:

Part of a larger hoard. Other objects can be found on the following records.
