Medieval lead seal matrix, probably of 13th or 14th century date
The seal matrix is circular (with a diameter of 29.3mm and a weight of 15.2g) and has lost the loop on the rear (with a surviving depth of 5.9mm). The rear is flat with lugs at the apex and base. The larger lug at the apex is likely to have been perforated for the loop. The seal die has a simple eight-pointed star for the central device. The encircling legend is damaged and worn but appears to be a personal legend, reading:
