silver-gilt dress hook of trefoil form. Pinked back plate with three bosses of hemispherical shape. Each boss has three rope twist circles with a central knop. In the centre of the three bosses in a riveted flower design. On the reverse a hole for the rivet can be seen and there is a recurving hook that has been soldered on.

Similar dress hooks can be found from Duxford, Cambridgeshire (TAR 2003, p. 234, ref. 232), Shillington, Bedfordshire (TAR 2005/6, p.365, ref. 643) and Botley, Hampshire (TAR 2005/6, p.367, ref. 653).
Consequently, in terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
