Medieval iron socketed arrowhead, probably of 11th to 14th century date The arrowhead is incomplete, missing one of the wings and the barb from the surviving wing (with a length of 72.1mm, a surviving width of 19.9mm and a weight of 13.0g). Although incomplete, the arrowhead would appear to be allied to Jessop's (1997) 'Early Multi-Purpose Forms' of arrowhead. The socket is sub-circular (with an external diameter of 11.1mm and an internal diameter of 6mm) and is filled with iron corrosion. The sides of the socket are straight and converge towards the wings. The profile of the socket continues to the tip as a pronounced central spine. The surviving wing is of flat section (2mm thick). The barb has been lost but may have been upward-curving, consistent with the type. The iron appears to be comparatively well preserved.
