Lead
Vessel fragment. Rim fragment from a straight-sided vessel with beaded rim, of estimated diameter 120mm. The bead runs on the inside of the rim, which may be slightly flared or bent but otherwise fails to interrupt the smooth external surface. The rim and vertical side recall the form of much larger vessels recovered from Middle Saxon sites in the region. Suggested date: Early Medieval, 750-950.
Length: 39mm, Height: 34mm, Thickness (clear of rim): 3.1mm, Weight: 23.46gms.
