An enamelled copper-alloy disc brooch, dating from the late 1st to mid 3rd century AD (cf Hattatt 2000: 344, nos. 518, 1409 and 118).
The recessed upper surface of the circular brooch bears a relief-moulded hexagonal pattern with a pellet at the centre and one at each of the six points. No trace of enamel survives, either within the central cell or in the surrounding field, where there is a small casting flaw. The underside is flat and plain. The hinge is located adjacent to the edge and consists of a single right-angled lug, attached to which is a three-coiled spring with internal chord. The bent and corroded pin projects towards the catchplate, which is located opposite and appears to be largely intact. The brooch measures 20.1mm in diameter and the disc is 1.2mm thick. It weighs 3.63g.
