A sheet silver ferrule dating from post 1710. The flattened ferrule is made form a sheet of silver rolled into a tube with butt seam. There is a thickened collar at each end and the tube tapers. It is decorated by being pressed with a border of large flowers at the top, and a main design of a large swag of draped fabric or curtains. In the opinion of Dora Thornton, the fitting is less than 300 years old, so does not need to be declared under the 1996 Treasure Act despite being made of silver.
