A Post Medieval cast copper-alloy unidentified object. The object consists of a sub-rectangular cross-sectioned piece 50mm long with a deep longitudinal central flute. On either side of the central piece there are two curving delta shaped wings which taper from the roots towards their outer edges. The central section is fully pierced by an unthreaded hole that tapers from the narrowest end of the object (where the hole is 6.54mm dia.) to the widest part across the wings (where the hole is 3.68mm dia.) The surface of the object is covered with surface striations along its length which are either associated with its manufacture or its in-use service. The majority of suggestions for this objects purpose have centred around functionality as a peg or handle but its weight and robustness has also led to the suggestion that it could be some form of bob used as a pendulum or striker. The object is dark grey in colour and weighs 81.88g.
