A very small cast copper alloy Medieval single loop buckle frame, dating to c. 1250-1500 AD. The buckle frame consists of a D-shaped buckle frame with a narrowed and offset strap bar, and a central moulded notch which would have allowed the buckle pin end to rest on the frame. There is another smaller incised notch below the central one on the frame, perhaps from use. The offset strap bar would have allowed the buckle strap to be comfortably held in place, while accommodating the pin; the strap bar is now missing as well as the pin. The buckle frame measures 15.2 mm long, 12.8 mm wide, 2.3 mm thick, and weighs 1.18 grams. Cf. Whitehead 2003, p19, esp. No. 64.
