A cast copper alloy square trade weight, of Post Medieval to Modern dating (17th to 19th Centuries AD).
The weight is square in plan and rectangular in cross section / profile. The front has been stamped with the inscription '3.12', presumably the weight that it was required to weigh. The back is plain and undecorated.
The weight is a dark green / brown colour, with an uneven surface patina. Abrasion, caused by movement in the plough soil has resulted in the loss of some of the original surface and detail.
The weight measures 20.84mm in length, 21.11mm wide and 7.68mm thick. It weighs 23.5 grams (0.83 oz).
