Incomplete Medieval cast copper alloy mount, probably part of a harness suspension mount. It has a square plate with circular rivet holes in two adjacent corners, one broken through, and the remains of a wide tab extending from the side opposite the rivet holes, the end of which is broken. On the front is a cast moulded design of a recessed circle containing a equal armed cross with recessed centre and rounded lobes extending from the outer corners and centre of each arm giving an almost sun-like appearance, a cross of Toulouse. there are traces of gilding on the front. It is now 33.1mm long, 26.7mm wide and 1.3mm thick; it weighs 6.30 grams.
The design is paralleled on a simple square mount illustrated in Read (2001:14, no.87) which he dates to c13th to 14 century (ibid:12). The tab may have extended into a bent back suspension loop for a harness pendant as on IOW-B1CCD1.
