BUCKLE

Unique ID: WMID-ED5796

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

A cast copper-alloy medieval buckle frame, missing the pin. The frame is single looped and sub-oval in shape, with two lobed knops flanking a constriction for a sheet copper-alloy roller on the frame where the pin would come to rest. This is missing, though green discolouration here indicates its presence. The remains of a copper-alloy buckle plate are visible on the strap bar. The buckle frame has a green to brown patina.
