A silver Medieval signet ring probably dating from the late 15th century. Only the bezel and a small section of the hoop survives. The bezel is raised and circular. It has a incised dotted border and the central design is a single letter surrounded by wreath. The design is very worn. There are incised curved lines adorning the shoulders; a pair on each edge of each shoulder. The hoop is D shaped in section but only about a third of it survives. The breaks are partially patinated.
A close parallel is Treasure case 2004 T10, Elsing, Norfolk (Treasure Annual Report 2004, fig. 296, pg. 135).
Consequently, in terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
