An Anglo-Scandinavian cast copper-alloy terminal probably from a drinking horn dating to the eleventh century. The terminal has a hollow conical socket with three rivet holes at the attachment end. The socket is ribbed. At the top of the socket is an integral animal head shown in three dimension. The head is large, solid and in the form of a mythical creature, most likely a dragon. The head is slender, broadly D-shaped in cross-section and extends either side of the socket. The head is ribbed and the eye sockets are deeply faceted. The beast has pointed oval eyes with a band of moulded lines across the centre of both eyeballs. The snout is elongated and the mouth is displayed slightly open exposing a large tongue. The bottom jaw is flat and at the tip beneath the tongue it curves downwards to meet the shaft. At the back of the head are two large conical ears of copper-alloy.
