The plated copper-alloy core of a contemporary copy of a siliqua of the House of Valentinian dating to the period AD 364 to 367 (Reece period 19). RESTITVTOR REIP reverse type depicting Emperor standing facing holding standard and Victory on globe. As mint of Milan. cf. RIC IX, p. 43, no. 6a
Notes:
Part of a group of 27 Roman coins which Range from 240 AD - 378 AD including 22 Nummi, 3 Radiates, a Siliqua and an As. The coins have been pierced and the majority show evidence of an iron nail still visible within the perforation and vary in condition.
This coin has a perforation filled with iron corrosion product on the obverse. The perforation measures approximately 2mm in diameter.
