A silver Medieval coin; a penny of Henry III (1216 - 1272), Voided long cross (1247 - 1272) class 5b (1251 - 1272). See North number 992. The coin was minted by Henri at London. When found, the coin was bent double, but it has since been straightened. Medieval coins are known which are deliberately folded in half, sometimes round another object, possibly as good luck charms.
