Middle or late Anglo-Saxon copper alloy ansate brooch with lobed terminals and transverse moulded ribs in the centre of the bow. Both terminals are decorated with longitudinally engraved lines in addition to a pair of moulded grooves flanking the lobe. A catchplate with a missing flap and double pin lug with iron spindle are on the reverse. It may be compared with Hübener 1972 Gruppe 9; and Thörle 2001 Gruppe XII A 1 Typ East Harling; also Weetch type XII.Aii. This example measures 40mm x 7mm and dates from the 9th or 10th century.
