One sherd of black burnished ware (Poole/Wareham fabric). Reduced black fabric with abundant rounded quartz sand temper. The surfaces are quite abraded, but there are traces of burnish on both the interior and exterior surfaces. A curving rim sherd from a lid (WA type 25). The rim has a dropped flange is handmade and abraded. This form is present from the early 3rd century to the 4th century (Seagar-Smith, R, and Davies, S 1993, Roman Pottery, p. 235 in Excavations at Greyhound Yard, Dorchester 1981 - 4, by Peter J Woodward, Susan M Davies and Alan H Graham, Dorset Natural History and Archaeological Society Monograph 12. P202 - 289).
