One arm and part of the bow of an Anglian equal-armed brooch. This comprises a sub-triangular arm decorated with lines of annulet punchmarks along its base and sides, and with an iron-stained catchplate (with the flap missing) on the reverse. The flat-sectioned bow is more than half extant. The break across the bow and most of the scuffing on the sides of the arm are recent. An East Anglian type (Hines 1984, 253-9; Hills et al. 1984, fig. 101 nos. 1 and 2; MacGregor and Bolick 1993 nos.18.2 and 3). The fragment is 25mm wide. The brooch is early Anglo-Saxon and dates from the mid to late 5th century.
