An incomplete Medieval cast copper-alloy mount, possibly for a box or chest (c. 1200-c. 1500). The mount is convex at the front and flat at the rear. It is complete at one end and the opposite end is incomplete due to a break that has occurred through a rivet hole. It has a 'trefoil' knop at one end and a 'sexfoil' knop. Between these features the distance is 14.0mm and the width is 3.7mm. The distance between the 'sexfoil' knop and the break is 10.mm with a width of 5.9mm. Each knop has a circular rivet hole, 3.0mm in diameter. The object is slightly corroded and a decayed buff patina has survived within crevices. No trace of gilding. 47.9 x 9.2 x 3.0mm.Weight: 5.35g.
