A copper alloy medieval key of which only the bit survives. The shank is circular in section and hollow (a pipe key). There is a deep cleft in the leading edge of the bit, with a groove parallel to it but further away from the shank. There are four wards along the outer edge of the bit. The key has a grey green patina and the break is slightly patinated.
