FINGER RING

Unique ID: BERK-295624

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

A large copper alloy signet style ring, possibly worn over a gloved hand. The bevel which is oval in plan has a worn design that is unrecognisable and may have been intended to be a seal - the design is reminiscent of some Chinese lettering or a crude chi-ro symbol. The bezel is very worn one one edge. Signet rings and those intended to be worn over gloves may date from the 16th to 18th century. The size of this example suggests a later date.
